I usually set a timer to help me not feel overwhelmed and when I am finished organizing a specific closet, room or area - I know how long it took me! This book helped me SO much! http://www.betterworldbooks.com/the-personal-organizing-workbook-id-0811849422.aspxdanielle hatfieldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12492430265464842904noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7025842010312286105.post-75829562136155726562012-02-17T20:34:35.230-05:002012-02-17T20:34:35.230-05:00I love this post. It starts with our thoughts, which lead to feelings, then to actions, which are repeated and become habits. Well, habits become part of your character, which then becomes your legacy. So, to change your legacy or character (or habits) you must change your thoughts. You mentioned a great way to do this. Think about alternatives, and think through to the outcomes of each alternative, to help in choosing the better one, that would lead to a new (better) habit. I also believe we need to go through a 5 step process in order to change a habit, which I refer to as A.W.A.R.E. - 1) You become Aware of the need to change a habit, 2) You become Willing to make the change 3) You learn the Ability to make the change, 4) You overcome the Resistance to make the change and then Resist falling back to the old habit, 5) You Enable yourself (i.e. through repetition) to integrate the change (new habit).
